SEAMEO BIOTROP’s Services Laboratory maintained its certification to operate as an environmental laboratory after passing the field verification conducted by a team of assessors from the Ministry of Environment of Indonesia on 28 February 2014. The certification is valid until 29 January 2017.

Environmental laboratory certification is a formal recognition of the Government of Indonesia given to laboratories that perform tests on environmental quality parameters in compliance with the Ministry of Environment Regulation No 06-2009.  Annual verification of laboratories is done to review their capabilities in adhering to the said regulation and thus be allowed to maintain their certification.

The field verification team found that SEAMEO BIOTROP complies  with ISO 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) and the Ministry of Environment Regulation No 06-2009.   It also recognized the competent staff of the Centre to operate the equipments and facilities.
 
SEAMEO BIOTROP obtained its certification on 5 June 2013 for its capacity to test environmental quality parameters for ambient air and quality of wastewater and surface water like dissolved metals, BOD and COD.
