BIOTROP Affiliate and Associate Program
The BIOTROP Affiliate and Associate (BAA) Program aims to enhance the collaboration of SEAMEO BIOTROP with researchers and practitioners in the field of Tropical Biology in Southeast Asia. The membership of the BAA program is 3 years, with extended possibility.

Benefits of Joining the BIOTROP Affiliate and Associate Program
  • Having priorities in research, training and information dissemination activities organized by SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Utilizing the facilities and infrastructure of SEAMEO BIOTROP for research and training in accordance with applicable regulations;
  • Receiving compensation as a resource person in activities and programs organized by SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Publishing articles on printed and online media of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having opportunities to be a keynote speaker, resource person and external reviewer for scientific events organized by SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Networking opportunities in national, regional and international levels;
  • Having opportunities for obtaining research funding from SEAMEO BIOTROP through competitive mechanism;
  • Enjoying project-based honorarium;
  • Being introduced to many research opportunities in national, regional and international scopes. 

General requirements for joining the BIOTROP Affiliate Scientist:
  • Having a Doctoral Degree;
  • Having interest in the fields relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having proficiency in English or any other international languages;
  • Being a citizen of one of the 11 ASEAN countries;
  • Willing to be the Principal Researcher or Research Group Leader.

General requirements for joining the BIOTROP Associate Member:
  • Being a practitioner having a certain expertise related to Tropical Biology;
  • Having interest in the fields relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having a patented product or technology which is traceable and proven;
  • Willing to assist in developing SEAMEO BIOTROP's program advancement in communities;
  • Being able to realize research results in a form of applicable tools or instruments.

Category and Requirements for joining the BIOTROP Affiliate Scientist

 Senior Affiliate Scientist
  • Having a Doctoral degree for at least 8-10 years;
  • Mastering scientific knowledge on tropical biology and any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having at least 10 years of experiences in research fields relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having published scientific articles in a Scopus indexed international journal with Q3 SJR status;
  • Having a minimum of h-index score of 3;
  • Having recognized as reputable in the research field;
  • Having experience in collaboration or community service projects;
  • Having an extensive network of potential collaborators;
  • Having work experiences in reputable institutions, such as government agencies, research institutions, universities, private sectors;
  • Having commitments in conducting and contributing to at least one activity in SEAMEO BIOTROP

Young Affiliate Scientist
  • Maximum age is 40 years old
  • Having at least 5 years of experiences in research fields relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having published at least one scientific publication, such as journal article, book, scientific popular article;
  • Having the ability to bring in collaboration to SEAMEO BIOTROP, including network, funding and research opportunities other than DIPA BIOTROP funds;
  • Having work experiences in reputable institutions, such as government agencies, research institutions, universities, private sectors;
  • Having commitments in supporting and contributing to  SEAMEO BIOTROP's activities and programs.

Junior Affiliate Scientist
  • Maximum age is 45 years old;
  • Having a Doctoral degree for at least 5years;
  • Having at least 7 years of experiences in research fields relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having published at least 5 scientific publication, such as journal article, book, scientific popular article;
  • Having the ability to bring in collaboration to SEAMEO BIOTROP, including network, funding and research opportunities other than DIPA BIOTROP funds;
  • Having work experiences in reputable institutions, such as government agencies, research institutions, universities, private sectors;
  • Having commitments in supporting and contributing to  SEAMEO BIOTROP's activities and programs.

Graduate Students
  • Maximum age is 40 years old;
  • Being an active student of the Masters or Doctoral degree study program;
  • Having priority status in the process of writing Masters thesis or Doctoral dissertation;
  • Having an extensive network of potential collaborators;
  • Having work experiences in reputable institutions, such as government agencies, research institutions, universities, private sectors;
  • Having commitments in supporting and contributing to  SEAMEO BIOTROP's activities and programs;
  • Having an interest in futuristic science relevant to Tropical Biology or any of the Program Thrusts of SEAMEO BIOTROP;
  • Having an interest in futuristic science relevant to any fields of SEAMEO BIOTROP's expertise.
