BIOTROP Promotes Forest and Peat Fire Research for Human and Biodiversity Sustainability

On 28 April,  BIOTROP will hold a seminar on Promoting Research on the Impact, Mitigation, and Adaptation of Forest and Peat Land Fires to Biodiversity and Human Dimensions at its headquarter in Bogor.

This one-day seminar generally aims to provide an overview of past and current research works on forest and land fires towards analyzing the gaps, especially those concerning biodiversity and human aspects, and recommending appropriate research agenda for such gaps. These past and current research works will be from Indonesia, United Kingdom, Australia, and Sweden.  It is expected that the research agenda to be formulated could help mitigate the occurrence of such fires and minimize their impact to allow biodiversity and human to adapt properly for their sustainability.

Consisting of plenary and panel discussions, the seminar will have the following speakers: Prof. Richard Bradshaw and Dr. Gina Hannon from the University of Liverpool, UK; Dr. Scott Mooney from the University of New South Wales, Australia; Dr. Veiko Lehsten from the University of Lund, Sweden; Mr. Franky Zamzani from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Lailan Syaufina and Prof. Bambang Hero Saharjo from Bogor Agricultural University, and Dr. Ellyn Kathalina Damayanti from SEAMEO BIOTROP, Indonesia.
