SEAMEO BIOTROP Formulates a Logical Design and Mockup Database of Biodiversity

Over five decades, SEAMEO BIOTROP has made a significant contribution to biodiversity, conservation, and saving biodiversity ecosystems. In order to support SEAMEO BIOTROP initiative program to strengthen visibility, contribution, and role in saving biodiversity through research and development of tropical biology learning models in Southeast Asia, it is considered important to develop and implement a tropical biodiversity database, so that it can be easily accessed by communities at the national, regional and international levels.

In line with those matters, SEAMEO BIOTROP conducted a Workshop and Focus Group Discussion on Logic Design and Mockup Database of Biodiversity on 13 October 2022. This workshop aimed to formulate a logic and mockup design from high-value biodiversity collections that have been developed by SEAMEO BIOTROP.

The workshop was officially opened by the Director of SEAMEO BIOTROP, Dr Zulhamsyah Imran. "We need to take note of this biodiversity properly. It is in this context that we need a logic design workshop and a focus group discussion on biodiversity databases", Dr Zulhamsyah said. He also stated that the presentation materials shared by resource persons and participants will be useful in formulating useful results from the workshop and focus group discussion activities.

The speakers and presented materials were: 1) Dr Supriyanto, STP, MKom from IPB University (logic design database of biodiversity collections) and 2) Rizki Abdul Basit from PiAREA (mockup design database of biodiversity collections). The event was held offline and participated by 20 participants. (asa, hcn).
