BIOTROP, 2 Other SEAMEO Centers collaborate for Capacity Building in Brunei and Indonesia

BIOTROP joined the SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) and Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (VOCTECH) in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brunei’s Wasan Vocation School (WVS) and Indonesia’s Vocational Education Development Centre for Agriculture (VEDCA) to implement a “Human Resource and Institutional Capacity Building Program.”  The MoU was signed on 26 March 2015 at SEAMEO VOCTECH headquarter in Brunei Darussalam.

The MoU seeks to maximize the strengths of all parties to mutually contribute in advancing agriculture, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam towards poverty alleviation and food security.

The collaboration will cover skills development of staff and students, sharing of information and material resources and facilities, and establishment of functional linkages with other relevant institutions towards exploring mutually beneficial activities in the next three years.

Signatories on behalf of their respective institutions were BIOTROP Director Dr Irdika Mansur, VOCTECH Director Haji Md Sharifuddin Haji Md Salleh, SEAMOLEC Deputy Director Dr Ir  Paristiyanti Nurwardani, WVS Principal  Zaitunah Haji Kurus and VEDCA Director Ir. Siswoyo, M.Si.
