In strengthening the collaborations between Universitas Hasanuddin and SEAMEO BIOTROP, the two institutions inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the scope of biodiversity studies, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. The signatories at this event were Dr Ahmad Faisal, ST, MSi, the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, and Innovation of Universitas Hasanuddin, and Dr Zulhamsyah Imran, the Director of SEAMEO BIOTROP. The MoU was signed on 12 October 2022 at the campus of SEAMEO BIOTROP in Bogor. 

In his welcoming remarks, the Director of SEAMEO BIOTROP, Dr  Zulhamsyah Imran, shared his expectations that mutual benefits can be achieved through this collaboration.  Dr Ahmad Faisal shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, especially in the field related to food security.  A guided tour to visit the SEAMEO BIOTROP tissue culture laboratory and hydroponics unit was commenced after the signing of the MoU.
