SEAMEO Secretariat welcomes new director

The SEAMEO Secretariat welcomed Associate Professor Dr Witaya Jeradechakul as its new director in a simple ceremony on 24 March 2011 at the SEAMEO Secretariat Office in Bangkok.  The same occasion also gave tribute to Dato’ Dr Ahamad bin Sipon, the outgoing director.

Dr Witaya will serve as SEAMEO Secretariat Director for 4 years beginning on 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2015.

For 10 years, Dr Witaya taught and worked at Srinakharinwirot University in various capacities including Head of Language Department, Associate Dean of Faculty of Humanities, and Vice President for International Affairs. He held various executive posts such as Executive Director and CEO of the Thailand Management Association in 1992, Director General of the Pacific Basin Economic Council in 1995, Executive Director of the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APECTF) in 2002, and Senior Director in Charge of International Cooperation Affairs for the National Science Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in 2006.
