Shared this through:

BIOTROP added CV Cita Insani Mandiri (CIM) and Koperasi Produksi Susu dan Usaha Peternakan (KPS) Bogor in its growing list of partner-institutions when it sealed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with them during its 45th anniversary celebration on 6 February 2013 held at its Convention Hall in Bogor.

CV CIM is an association of small scale fishermen and entrepreneurs in Bogor.  The MoU aims to improve the quality, propagation techniques, and farming practices for small scale catfish and floating fish feed production involving the staff of both CV CIM and BIOTROP and their respective clients and stakeholders through research and capacity building activities for the next two years.

On the other hand, KPS Bogor is a community-managed dairy and livestock cooperative located in the village of Pamijahan, Bogor district.  The cooperative has agreed to collaborate with BIOTROP to establish red jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus) plantation in combination with forage crop as a model of silvopasture system funded by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.  Under the MoU, BIOTROP will provide technical assistance and supply 10,000 red jabon tree seedlings produced in the Centre’s nursery. On the other hand,  KPS Bogor agrees to allocate land area to establish the said farming system.  This CSR program is also part of PT TMMIN commitment to combat global warming by planting more trees as well as increasing the farmers’ income from future harvesting of the trees.  The collaboration is effective until 2018.

Both these collaborative undertakings are part of BIOTROP’s community development service.
