Twenty participants from universities, research institutions, government agencies, and food processing companies in Indonesia completed BIOTROP’s  1st National Training Course on Prevention and Control of Mycotoxins in Food and Feedstuff held on 22 – 25 May 2012 at the Centre’s  headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. 

In general, the training course was aimed at equipping the participants with basic and applied knowledge and skills on the techniques for the analysis, prevention and control of mycotoxins in food and feedstuff.   It consisted of lectures-discussions and practical work on the following topics: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP); Spoilage fungi in Food and Feedstuff, their Prevention and Control; Fungal Isolation, Enumeration and Identification; Sampling Method; Mycotoxins, their Control and Analysis; and Quality Assurance on Mycotoxin Analysis. 

Resource persons of the training course were Prof. Dr. Rizal Syarief, DESS  and  Dr. Utut Widyastuti  from Bogor Agricultural University; Mr. Ferdi Ferdian Kusnadhi from PT Berca Niaga Medika, Jakarta;  Mr. Joko Tanadi from PT Radin Nugrah Deksatama, Jakarta; Mr. Irsan Hartadi from PT Mbrio Biotekindo, Bogor; Prof. Dr. Okky S. Dharmaputra, Mrs. Santi Ambarwati MSi, Mrs. Ina Retnowati and Mr. Sunjaya from SEAMEO BIOTROP . 

The participants turned in individual action plans on how they would apply the knowledge and experiences they gained from the training in their respective work stations.
Prof.  Dr. Okky S. Dharmaputra coordinated the training course.
