Shared this through:A one day workshop on Risk Analysis of Weed/Invasive Alien Plant Species in Indonesia was held at SEAMEO BIOTROP, Bogor, 28 May 2008. This workshop was organized by SEAMEO BIOTROP, in cooperation with Weed Science Society of Indonesia and FAO.
This workshop was participated by 35 participants representing the members of Weed Science Society of Indonesia, Universities, Agriculture Quarantine Agency of Indonesia, Botanical Gardens, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Forest Research Institute and Agrochemical Company. Dr. Ricardo Labrada from FAO Rome as a resource person delivered his talks on: Weed management in General, Pre- and Post Weed Risk Assessment, and Risk Assessment of Herbicide-Resistance Crops. Dr Soekisman Tjitrosoedirdjo, President of the Weed Science Society of Indonesia presented his paper on Development of Invasive Alien Plant Species Management in Indonesia. Dr. Harry Santoso from Forest Research Institute gave a review on Invasive Alien Plant Species at the Forest Plantations, while Dr. Tukirin Partomihardjo from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences presented his paper on Distribution of Invasive Alien Plant Species in Indonesia. Finally, Dr. Sri S. Tjitrosoedirdjo explained on Database Development of Invasive Alien Plant Species in Indonesia. The workshop was concluded with a discussion and recommendations on Weed Risk Analysis and Risk Assessment of Herbicide-resistant Crops.Weed Risk Analysis will be formulated to be used for Indonesia.
At the opening session welcome addresses were delivered by Dr. Sri S. Tjitrosoedirdjo, coordinator of the workshop, followed by Dr. Soekisman Tjitrosoedirdjo as President of the Weed Science Society of Indonesia and Dr. Bambang Purwantara who represented the BIOTROP Director.
